How can you get involved?

BASE is expanding its concept to inform and involv younger generations in the search for a final repository to include measures for the years 2024/2025.

Author of the message: BASE

With the ‘concept to inform and involve younger generations’, BASE published a detailed description of the conceptual basis of its information, education and participation measures aimed at younger generations in March 2024. The concept also described specific measures taken between 2023 and the second quarter of 2024.

The measures now published focus on the period from 2024 to Q2/2025. These measures are regularly updated in line with the specified priorities and objectives as well as current developments in the site selection procedure.

In the current phase of the repository search, where large parts of the Federal Republic of Germany are still being considered as potentially suitable sites, the focus is on the dissemination of information about the procedure and participation opportunities for younger generations.

In addition, the concept of measures for young generations presented here is based on the BASE strategy for the design of participation in the search for a repository (in German), and employs this strategy with a focus on the younger generations.

Further updates to the concept to inform and involve the younger generations are planned in a learning, iterative process. The continuous dialogue with representatives of civil society such as the Council of the Young Generation (RdjG) and the U35 Working Group (U35 AG) of the Repository Search Forum Planning Team (PFE) as well as the exchange with students, pupils and teachers at numerous events in and for schools and universities form the basis for this further development.
