The agency’s services and tasks
The law enabled the participants at the conference to organise the event by themselves. They were being supported in their work by an agency that was based at the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE). Those attending the conference were local authority representatives from the sub-areas mentioned in the Interim Report, members of the public, scientists and representatives of social organisations.
The agency’s services at the Conference on Sub-areas included the following:
• Making suggestions for a chairperson (supported by an outside company)
• Organising the preparation and follow-up work for the Conference on Sub-areas meetings: booking premises, sending invitations and organising registration
• Providing services that enable people to participate in the conference online including a live stream of all meetings
• Publishing of all relevant documents related to the dates of the conference
• Documentation of the consultation
